Made In The USA

There was a time when clothing was made to last, cherished and passed down through generations. Think about your grandparents' closets, filled with items from over 50 years ago that are still in pristine condition. This wasn’t just because they held onto everything, but because 95 percent of clothing worn in the 1960s was made in the USA, ensuring high quality and durability. Since then, we've witnessed a rapid decline in both the quality and the percentage of locally made clothing, which has plummeted to less than 3 percent today.

In our modern era, we’re no longer encouraged to invest in timeless pieces for our wardrobes. Instead, the rise of fast fashion and ever-changing trends has led many brands to move manufacturing overseas, prioritizing mass production at lower costs. This shift has resulted in poorer quality garments that rarely last more than a few years. Moreover, this outsourcing has often involved unethical practices in manufacturing warehouses.

These are just a few of the many reasons why supporting American-made clothing is so crucial. Let’s delve into some of the best reasons to love American-made brands and make a conscious choice to invest in quality, ethical fashion.

Years of Quality

It's very uncommon to see American made clothing that is not high quality as American manufacturers are known for their attention to detail, and desire to craft a quality product. Most American factories have set high standards that their work must reach, but what really sets them apart is how the heightend focus on their work compares to that of the clothing manufactured overseas.

Sustainably & Ethically Made

For many American made brands the quality of the product is more than just the quality of the sewing but the fabric as well. You will often find that American made clothing is nicer to touch and more durable than those that aren't. Many of these brands, including ours, choose to invest in higher quality and more sustainable materials. Sustainablity is a detail many in the fashion industry are shifting towards, however, it can be much easier to incorporate when made locally. Clothing made in the USA is automatically going to be more eco-friendly and sustainable even if the brand isn't trying. When garments are made in the USA the brands have smaller carbon footprints as the products don't have to travel as far or as often. Among other things American made manufacturers are held to higher standards with their enviromantal regulations and ethical practices.

You can rest assured knowing American made clothes are produced ethically and safely. Having our clothing made in America we have encountered the many laws and licenses that need to be held and followed by the parties involved in making the clothing to protect the workers. The stories that have been told about working conditions in manufacturing places in other countries can be absolutly heartbreaking. Which is why thankfully the laws and licenses that must be held and followed by American manufacturers are in place. With America having minimum wage laws, all factories are required to pay their employees a fair wage. At Isla & Saige, an important reason we chose to manufacture in the U.S. was that we can make frequent visits to our manufacturer, allowing us to see the working conditions and how employees are being treated.

Boosts the Economy & Community

Purchasing clothing made in the USA brings money back into local communities by providing employment opportunities in local communities. Supporting American factories and providing jobs for families in the USA has been a huge factor in our decision to have our clothing made in the USA. These jobs not only helps provide for families but it also stimulates the economy and support local business.

When you choose to invest in American-made brands, you’re not just purchasing a product; you’re supporting a dream, a vision, and a legacy. Each piece is a testament to the dedication and craftsmanship of individuals who pour their hearts into their work. By buying American-made, you’re ensuring that the artistry and quality that go into each product are preserved, celebrated, and passed down through generations.
